Plume forecast for Japan: 4/5

Plume could reach Choshi and coastal regions to the south on the afternoon of April 4 and particularly the evening of April 5 Japan Standard Time (JST).  Any material emitted during this time could impact those regions.  This area could once again experience plume effects as we saw for several prior days (e.g., see 4/4 and 3/24 posts).

The Naval Research Laboratory’s 5 km resolution data-assimilating meteorological model COAMPS produced the fields, using a passive tracer to map the expected plume trajectory.  Lighter gray contours show more concentrated material. [Plume images are a research tool; contours are arbitrary units for visualization purposes.]
